New York-based non-profit organization IACE promotes the study of the Italian language and culture within the tri-state area. It provides funding which public schools can use for the purchase of books to develop its own curriculum for an enrichment program or a bilingual (DL) program. The Calandra Institute was founded in 1979 with the original aim of restoring equality in treatment of Italian Americans in higher education. It has now fully developed to include a varied range of goals and activities, besides publishing research and producing a series of TV programs, workshops and seminars, which are open to the public and free of charge.

Dr. Claudia Calì is a musician, piano teacher and researcher.
She currently works as the project manager of a professional development program for teaching artists at Teachers College Columbia University, and Professor of Music Education at Queens College and Long Island University. Her research brings attention to young children's spontaneous musicality, as well as families and the influences that music has on parent-child relationships.
She created and currently teach an original music curriculum, “Musicali si Nasce,” for young children of Italian families in New York. “Musicali si Nasce” is inspired by her observations of young children’s spontaneous music-making and aims to cultivate in young children and their families a love for Italian through music.

Internationally renowned Kit-Kairos Italy Theater is based in NYC, and focuses on Italian culture in the United States. For this reason, Kit has developed a thorough network which has supported and created awareness about Italian culture in the USA.
During its long venture, Kit has produced a vast array of performances and events, and co-worked with Off-Off and Off-Broadway theaters and with US Institutions. KIT offers unedited works by major Italian playwrights, which have never been translated. Furthermore, it authors the Double Theatre Experience (i.e. One-Act plays by two different cast crews, each one performing in a different language the same night), it offers workshops on Commedia dell’Arte and other traditional Italian theater settings. KIT is the co-creator of In Scena! Italian Theater Festival NY, the first Italian Theater festival for all the 5 New York City Boroughs, and of OnStage! the first American Theater Festival in Rome, Italy. KIT is the Theater Company in-residence at Casa Italiana Zerilli-Marimò at NYU.
